Welcome to IA State Legislation Watch!
This a new series where volunteers are attempting to keep an eye on newly proposed pieces of legislation and how it may impact our communities.
On each of these updates, we hope to share items we find concerning, why we find them concerning, links directly to the item on the Iowa state legislative website for more information, as well as the sponsors of that legislation.
Introduced last year. Creates a new requirement for all law enforcement to cooperate with ICE agents who have shown to be violent and unaccountable. Bill is in subcommittee in both chambers.

Introduced last year. Creates a new requirement for Iowa driver’s licenses to include a person’s citizenship status on the card. Bill is in Senate Transportation Committee.
