These bills have survived the first funnel.
Bill is known as the “don’t say gay” legislation. Extends current law to include 7th through 12th graders. Prohibits school districts, charter schools, and innovation zone schools from providing any program, curriculum, test, survey, questionnaire, promotion, or instruction relating to sexual orientation or identity.
Bill passed out of committee and is eligible for consideration by the House.
HF2557 (OPPOSE)
"A bill for an Act allowing a person to raise, guide, and instruct a child in a manner consistent with the child's sex." -HF2557
In other words, this is an Anti-LGBTQ+, pro-conversion therapy bill that would provide legal protection to force children to live as a sex that does not align with their gender identity.
(formerly HSB669) The bill passed out of committee.
Contact your state representative and urge them to oppose the bill.
HF2541 (OPPOSE)
The bill takes away local government control to provide added anti-discrimination protections beyond the Iowa Civil Rights Act. Some communities have added protections for Transgender individuals and this would ban those actions.
(Formerly HSB664) Eligible for consideration by the House.
